Elastomer Friction

Friction is usually described by the Amontons-Coulomb law, which claims that friction force is proportional to normal force. However, this is onl very rough approximation. The newly developed "Generalized Master Curve Procedure" makes it possible to describe friction as a function of the most important parameters speed, temperature and pressure. "This makes it possible to predict the values of the coefficient of friction over a wide range of temperatures, sliding speeds and normal loads based on a limited set of data.
